Como’s cathedral

IComo’s Cathedral is the last of Gothic cathedrals built in Lombardy.

Broletto Palace

It is the original site, in medieval times, of the the City Hall of Como. It hosts art shows and exhibitions.

Market Hall, is In Via Mentana n° 5 and it is open daily from Monday to Saturday. Inside there is also the Farmers Market of Como manufacturers , which are present on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings with direct sales (from producers to consumers) of local products of Como Area.


The local and organic producers market is held every Saturday from 8 to 12 in Como-Rebbio, in the park of Missionari Comboniani in Via Salvadonica 3 along Via Varesina.

Antiquities and Handcrafts

In San Fedele square is held the market of Antiquities on the first Saturday of each month and the market of HandCrafts on the second, third and fourth Saturday of each month.


Foxtown in Mendrisio (Switzerland) – in this outlet you will find 160 stores with 250 brands. Open daily from 11am to 7pm.



In piazza De Gasperi is the funicular station, from here you can reach Brunate, also called the “balcony” of the Alps for its breathtaking panorama. Walking in the hills you will see many splendid Art Nouveau villas and you can reach San Maurizio where you can visit the Voltiano Lighthouse, built in 1927. At night the Lighthouse lights Como and the valley with beams of white, red and green lights. You can come back to Como also by walk.

Baradello Castle

From San Rocco square or from Camerlata square you can reach (by walk – 20 minutes) Baradello Castle, rebuilt in the twelfth century by Frederico I of Svevia, called Barbarossa, over the fortifications ruins dated from the sixth century.

What to see on Lake Como: the most picturesque villages not to be missed

Laglio, Brienno & Lenno

Laglio is the country known for the residence of the actor George Clooney and Brienno is one of the oldest villages, it has remained virtually unchanged for over a century. In Lenno there is Villa Balbianello, property of Fai and today famous for the movie 007 – Casino Royale.


Tremezzo is characterized by the sumptuous Villa Carlotta. The seventeenth-century villa, now a museum, contains Canova and Thorvaldsen sculptures, don’t miss the wonderful Italian botanical garden with a variety of over 500 species of plants.


Bellagio, also known as the pearl of Lake Como, is a renowned village which attracts millions of tourists every year. Do not miss its historical Villa Melzi owned by the Melzi d’Eril family with its museum and its stunning gardens.

Nesso & Lezzeno

Coming back down to Como you will meet Nesso with its old houses gathered around the mouth of the orrido and the medieval bridge of Civera. On the western bank, there is Lezzeno, from here you can admire a wonderful view of the lake and see Villa Balbianello and Isola Comacina.


Varenna is a small village located on a promontory of Lake Como at the mouth of the Esino stream. Varenna looks like an oil painting, characterized by narrow alleys and colorful houses that look out over the water. Among the main attractions are the medieval church of San Giorgio, Villa Cipressi and Villa Monastero.

Isola Comacina

The only way to reach Isola Comacina is to take a ferry in Sala Comacina or in other locations in the surroundings of Lake Como. On the island, you can stroll through the luxuriant nature, you can admire several Roman remains and the ruins of the Roman Basilica dedicated to Sant’Eufemia.

Ossuccio & Mezzegra

Ossuccio is a pre-roman village located on the western bank of the lake. Its most famous attraction is the Sacred Mount where the Shrine of the Virgin of the Rescue rises. Mezzegra is a lovely place full of history and art.

Cernobbio & Moltrasio

Cernobbio, on the west bank, is an international tourist resort famous for its majestic villas and promenades on the lakeshore. Moltrasio is famous to have hosted the musician Vincenzo Bellini and British Prime Minister Winston Churchill.


In Torno there is the mysterious Villa Pliniana. In its halls Napoleon, Alessandro Manzoni, Ugo Foscolo, Stendhal, Byron, Giuseppe Verdi, Vincenzo Bellini and Rossini were guests. Leonardo da Vinci studied the intermittent spring water gushing from a rock, now enclosed in the inner courtyard of the building.
